I Hate This Place, an open-world survival horror, will launch on January 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Broken Mirror Games and Skybound Entertainment announced alongside a new story trailer that tees up the madness spreading across Rutherford Ranch.

The newly released story trailer offers a brief but chilling look at Rutherford Ranch’s descent into chaos and the warped events that drive the game’s narrative. The studio said the updated release date follows community feedback gathered from events like PAX, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, plus impressions from a recent Steam demo; the extra development time will be used to integrate tweaks and additional features and to test those changes across all platforms. Janusz Tarczykowski, Game Director at Rock Square Thunder, explained the decision as a commitment to giving the game the time it needs to make a strong first impression while ensuring new additions are properly validated.
Set in the eerie wilderness of Rutherford Ranch, I Hate This Place puts players in the role of Elena, a survivor haunted by a malevolent force she accidentally helped unleash. The game blends scavenging, crafting, stealth and sound-driven enemy behavior with bold, comic-inspired visuals and an ’80s-tinged horror vibe. By day players explore forests, ruined towns and bunkers to gather resources and prepare defenses; by night the true terrors emerge, forcing careful strategy and silence to survive.
