Square Enix and Artdink Corporation have released the official story trailer for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the beautifully reimagined collection of the first two legendary entries in the Erdrick trilogy. The game will launch on October 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake brings together both adventures in one package, allowing players to select either Dragon Quest I or Dragon Quest II from the game’s start screen. The collection blends modern 2D-HD visuals with the timeless storytelling and turn-based gameplay that defined the origins of the Dragon Quest series.
In Dragon Quest I, players step into the role of Erdrick’s descendant, destined to save the land of Alefgard from the rise of the Dragonlord. Once a peaceful realm shaped by the goddess Rubiss, Alefgard has been overrun by monsters, forcing the hero to embark on a perilous journey to restore light to the world. Along the way, players encounter memorable characters and battle fearsome foes in true classic RPG fashion.
Dragon Quest II unfolds generations later, following the descendants of the original hero who now rule over three thriving kingdoms. When dark forces invade, the young princes and princesses of Erdrick’s bloodline unite to defend their world from evil. The sequel expands upon its predecessor with a vast interconnected world, a ship for sea exploration, and a party-based system featuring the Prince of Midenhall, the Prince and Princess of Cannock, and the Princess of Moonbrooke.
Combat remains rooted in traditional turn-based mechanics, where players can command a variety of weapons, spells, and abilities to face a host of iconic monsters. Enhanced visuals, atmospheric lighting, and reimagined sound elevate the nostalgic experience for a new generation while honoring the charm of the 8-bit originals.
