Kalypso Media and developer KITE Games have officially announced Sudden Strike 5, a bold return to the real-time tactical battlefield set during World War II. The next entry in the long-running strategy series is slated to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Set across Europe and North Africa, Sudden Strike 5 offers an expansive single-player campaign with 25 missions inspired by real historical conflicts. The game lets players command more than 300 authentic World War II units, including over 190 vehicles and 110 infantry types. From Sherman tanks and T-34s to the Messerschmitt Bf 109, each unit adds tactical depth to the battlefield.
Designed around precise execution and flexible strategy, players will need to use smart planning to seize objectives, defend key points, or cut off enemy reinforcements. New to the series is the Commander system, allowing players to pick leaders with unique tactical abilities—ranging from deploying smoke screens to enhancing artillery precision.
Players will also have control over camera perspectives, with the ability to zoom out for wide battlefield management or zoom in for detailed frontline action. The game features AI and multiplayer options across various difficulty levels, promising both solo challenges and competitive play.
With its larger unit counts, customizable strategies, and dynamic mission design, Sudden Strike 5 aims to evolve the series while staying true to its roots in tactical, thoughtful warfare.
