Xbox Game Studios and Ninja Theory have announced that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is officially making its way to PlayStation 5 on August 12. The release will coincide with a major “Enhanced” update rolling out across all platforms, bringing new gameplay features and technical improvements.

Digital pre-orders are now live, with a Standard Edition priced at $49.99/€49.99 and a Deluxe Edition at $69.99/€69.99. The Deluxe Edition includes the enhanced version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice for PS5 and the game’s original soundtrack. Existing PS4 owners of Senua’s Sacrifice will receive a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.
Originally launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store) on May 21, 2024, Hellblade II has been praised for its intense narrative, grounded combat, and cutting-edge visual design.
The Enhanced update introduces a new Performance Mode, offering smoother gameplay at 60 frames per second. PC users will benefit from a new “Very High” preset for higher fidelity, and the game is now Steam Deck Verified, optimized for play on the go. In addition, the update reintroduces The Dark Rot, a punishing optional mode where death has consequences. Each failure causes the rot to spread, and if it reaches Senua’s head, all progress is lost—adding serious stakes to her journey through Iceland.
Photo Mode has also received a boost, with expanded settings and a new “Motion” tab, allowing players to create cinematic video captures. The update is rounded out with over four hours of behind-the-scenes developer commentary, offering deep insights into the making of the game, from performance capture to the psychological research behind Senua’s experience.
