Publisher Pocketpair Publishing and developer Frontside 180 Studio have announced that Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, a 2D Metroidvania-meets-roguelike action title, will now launch as a full Version 1.0 release instead of the previously planned Early Access rollout. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. A release date has not yet been revealed.

The decision to skip Early Access follows strong feedback from the demo period, with the developers stating they’re focusing on delivering a polished, complete experience at launch. Final refinements are currently underway. Alongside the full release news, console editions have been officially confirmed for the first time. Never Grave will also support full cross-play, enabling multiplayer co-op across all available platforms.
In Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, players join forces with a cursed hat in a richly animated 2D world blending Metroidvania exploration with roguelike dungeon crawling. Wield magic to defeat possessed foes, collect loot, and rebuild a shattered village between battles. The game features procedurally generated dungeons with traps, puzzles, and a dynamic possession system that lets players take control of enemies to harness their unique abilities.
Up to four players can team up via online co-op, exploring ever-changing environments that range from ancient ruins to overgrown gardens. Between dungeon runs, players can expand their home village, grow crops, and craft potions to prepare for their next descent.
Hand-drawn animation and storybook-style backgrounds bring the cursed world to life, while a customizable combat system lets players adapt to each run using new traits, artifacts, and magic synergies.
