Q-Games has released a new trailer for Dreams of Another, showcasing its PlayStation VR2 functionality and offering a deeper look at the game’s uniquely immersive take on third-person exploration and action. Originally announced for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, the upcoming title is now also optimized for virtual reality, with a planned 2025 release.

Built around the philosophical concept that “no creation comes without destruction,” Dreams of Another subverts traditional shooter mechanics by making the act of shooting a means of creation rather than destruction. Players traverse a fragmented, abstract dreamworld visualized through point cloud rendering—a technique that builds the environment from floating particles. When viewed through PlayStation VR2, this technology creates a deeply immersive sensation where players feel as though they are dissolving into the environment itself, blurring the boundary between observer and participant.
At the heart of Dreams of Another lies a surreal narrative centered on two characters: The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldier. As players move through this dreamlike realm, they encounter not only unusual characters, but also sentient objects—trees, lamps, and even doors—that communicate in odd, often humorous ways. These interactions add emotional weight and social commentary, offering both whimsy and depth in equal measure.
The VR version supports seamless perspective-switching, allowing players to toggle between third-person and an exclusive first-person view. While the third-person mode is recommended for story-focused moments and a broader view of the world’s visual storytelling, the first-person mode amplifies immersion, placing the shimmering point cloud world directly into the player’s field of vision. Eye-tracking is integrated into the third-person mode as well, enabling players to target and shoot simply by looking, while haptic feedback and adaptive triggers further enhance the experience.
Combat in Dreams of Another revolves around mysterious entities known as Auras, which players must overcome using an expanding arsenal of weapons, from submachine guns to grenades and rocket launchers. Each weapon reacts dynamically with the point cloud world, materializing visuals and reshaping the landscape in real time. In virtual reality, these encounters become even more visceral and immediate. In addition to combat, the world hides emotionally resonant and often cryptic objects—such as forgotten wedding rings and spent fuses—that lend further mystery to the journey.
Dreams of Another is in development for PlayStation 5 (NL_BE/US) with full PlayStation VR2 support, as well as PC via Steam. A launch is expected sometime in 2025.
