The long-awaited GEX Trilogy officially launches this Monday, marking the return of the wisecracking gecko to modern platforms in remastered form. Ahead of the release, a new behind-the-scenes episode of Carboncast has been published on YouTube, offering a closer look at the work that went into bringing the trilogy back to life.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Limited Run Games, and published by Limited Run Games, GEX Trilogy brings together all three of the wisecracking gecko’s most memorable adventures in one remastered package. The original GEX delivers classic 2D platforming as players help the sarcastic lizard escape the bizarre Media Dimension. Its sequel, GEX: Enter the Gecko, transitions to 3D with expansive levels inspired by pop culture and TV parodies, complete with dozens of new moves and costumes. The final entry, GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko, builds on that with improved camera controls, new abilities like scuba diving and gliding, and even more outrageous humor—featuring over 1,000 voice lines performed by comedian Dana Gould.
The developers describe GEX Trilogy as the definitive way to experience the classic platformers, with enhanced visuals, modern features, and a faithful preservation of the original games’ humor and charm. According to the team, this release represents their most polished and complete version of GEX to date.
Fans are encouraged to spread the word: Gex is back—and better than ever. Whether you’re a longtime fan or someone hearing about the gecko for the first time, the trilogy is set to deliver a nostalgic yet fresh platforming experience when it lands tomorrow via Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Nintendo eShop.
