Earthion Launches July 31 for Consoles and PC, with Physical Editions Coming Soon

Publishers Limited Run Games and Superdeluxe Games, along with developers Ancient and Bit Wave Games, have announced that Earthion, a retro-style shoot ’em up, will release digitally on July 31 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam.

In the West, Limited Run Games will handle physical distribution, with pre-orders expected to open at a later date. Meanwhile, in Japan, Superdeluxe Games has already begun pre-orders for the PS5 and Switch physical editions, scheduled to ship on October 30.

Developed by Ancient, the legendary studio behind Streets of Rage 2 and Beyond Oasis, Earthion delivers a brand-new, authentic 16-bit shoot ’em up experience built on original hardware. Players will step into the role of Azusa Takanashi, an environmental researcher turned fighter pilot, as she leads humanity’s desperate counterattack from Mars to a devastated Earth.

Featuring eight explosive stages, intense bullet-dodging gameplay, and a soundtrack by the iconic Yuzo Koshiro, Earthion is designed to blend the nostalgia of classic arcade shooters with fresh modern energy. Players can upgrade their ships using salvaged enemy resources, deploy specialized subweapons for varied tactics, and challenge themselves in both Story and Challenge modes.
