The powerful new system becomes Nintendo’s fastest-selling hardware ever
June 11, 2025 – In the four days following its June 5 launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo system of all time.

The Nintendo Switch 2 (BE NL/US) features a larger, vibrant display with full HD 1080p resolution (4K when connected to a compatible TV or monitor), a faster processor for enhanced graphics and gameplay, and redesigned magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers that can also function as a mouse. The system introduces the new GameChat feature*2, allowing players to voice or video chat online while sharing their game screens—making it feel like friends and family are in the same room, even if they’re miles apart.
“The Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next evolution of the Nintendo Switch, and we’re incredibly happy and grateful to see the system already reaching so many players across Europe,” said Luciano Pereña, CEO and President of Nintendo of Europe. “We love seeing players connect through games like Mario Kart World and share their experiences with friends and family, whether near or far.”
Launching alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 was Mario Kart World (BE NL/US). For the first time in the series, players can race through an interconnected world, with tracks spanning cities, plains, deserts, and even across the ocean. The game also introduces dynamic weather, new gameplay modes, and supports up to 24 racers at once—a first for the franchise.
Next month, a brand-new 3D platformer starring Donkey Kong will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Donkey Kong Bananza (BE NL/US) lets players go wild like never before, smashing their way through a spectacular adventure. The game will be available starting July 17.
