Publisher Kwalee and developer Clover Bite have officially unveiled GRIME II, a surreal Metroidvania action-adventure set to release on PC via Steam in 2025. The announcement marks a new chapter in the world introduced in the acclaimed 2021 original, promising a stranger, deeper, and more dynamic journey than before.

In GRIME II, players step into the role of a Formless—an entity capable of absorbing foes and reshaping their abilities into living weapons called “molds.” This unique mechanic lies at the heart of the sequel’s fast-paced combat and exploration. With the help of grasping tendrils made of hands, you’ll not only parry incoming attacks but also steal the essence of your enemies to unlock entirely new forms of offense and traversal.
The sequel ventures into a brand-new region within the GRIME universe, introducing a world obsessed with art and body transformation. The environments are as imaginative as they are hostile: sprawling settlements made of painted nails, towering structures built from broken ceramics, and cultures shaped by bizarre rituals and surreal aesthetics.
Players are encouraged to experiment with a wide range of weapons, abilities, and enemy-based molds to forge their own playstyle. Whether summoning a molded ally to assist in battle or manipulating the terrain to your advantage, every encounter offers new tactical opportunities. Environmental hazards also play a crucial role—both as tools for players and threats to avoid.
GRIME II builds on its predecessor’s lore with a cast of distinct characters and a haunting, lived-in world that invites both awe and dread. As the Formless uncovers the truth behind this fractured land, choices made in combat and conversation will shape a story that’s as deeply personal as it is otherworldly.
