Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team NINJA have announced Nioh 3 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The game is slated to release in early 2026. An Alpha Demo is available now for PlayStation 5 via PlayStation Store and will be playable until June 18.

Set in an open-field world for the first time in the series, Nioh 3 invites players to explore freely while facing the high-stakes tension the franchise is known for. Players will encounter powerful yokai, investigate cursed villages, and challenge the deadly gauntlet known as The Crucible as they fight to survive in a fractured kingdom.
Combat is defined by two distinct styles—Samurai and Ninja—which can be switched between instantly depending on the situation. The Samurai style builds on mechanics from earlier Nioh entries, while introducing new features like Arts Proficiency and Deflect for aggressive, close-quarters clashes. The Ninja style favors speed and mobility, with abilities like Mist and Evade allowing players to strike from the shadows and avoid danger with precision.
Online multiplayer returns with two modes: “Summon Visitor,” which lets players call for help, and “Expeditions,” which supports co-op exploration across open zones. These features offer flexibility for both solo players and those seeking help from others.
Nioh 3 continues the series’ tradition of challenging combat, intricate systems, and rich, mythological settings. More information is expected in the coming months.
