The second story expansion for Star Wars Outlaws, A Pirate’s Fortune, throws players into a classic swashbuckling space tale full of smuggling jobs, shady deals, and the ever-charismatic pirate Hondo Ohnaka. But does this DLC truly shine, or are there a few barnacles on the hull?

A Story of Rum, Riches, and the Rim
Before you can jump into A Pirate’s Fortune, you’ll need to finish the main storyline of Star Wars Outlaws. After wrapping that up, you’ll get a call from ND-5, who mentions hearing a strange beeping sound aboard the Trailblazer. Head over to your bed inside the ship and interact with the source of the noise. This will trigger a hologram message from Hondo, officially kicking off the new quest titled “A Pirate’s Plight.”
Right from the start, it’s clear: this is a full-on pirate story. Don’t expect deep political intrigue or philosophical dilemmas—this is all about treasure hunts, betrayals, and the thrill of the score. The story feels more dynamic than the previous expansion (Wild Card), and features multiple endings based on your choices, which adds to its replay value. The new setting, the Keppy system, is refreshing, with a space station, a cantina, and new explorable regions that remain accessible after the story concludes. Still, the central location doesn’t quite have the level of environmental detail or personality seen in areas from the base game.
One of the most significant additions is the introduction of the Mayuki Trade League, a new faction that gives you access to smuggling missions. These jobs aren’t just a fun diversion—they offer new ship components and cosmetic upgrades. You also unlock a new vehicle and an additional blaster module, keeping the gameplay feeling fresh even after the main storyline wraps up.
Although the story missions only take about five hours to complete, the extra content is where this DLC truly finds its value. The campaign might feel a bit short for the price, but Ubisoft somewhat balances that with open-ended side content.

Space combat, Surprising Character Moments, and Solid Performance
For fans of Outlaws’ space combat, there’s good news: this DLC has quite a bit of it. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but new combat mechanics breathe life into these segments, offering a welcome change from what we saw in the main game. And perhaps unexpectedly, the evolving relationship between Kay and ND-5 adds a surprising emotional layer that gives the narrative real weight.
Technically, the DLC runs smoothly. Apart from a couple of visual glitches in the open world, there were no bugs that disrupted the experience. Still, the main hub area felt a little less immersive and vibrant compared to previous locations. For players who love exploring and picking up every datapad and detail, that’s a bit of a letdown.

Final Thoughts
A Pirate’s Fortune is a solid addition to Star Wars Outlaws. It delivers a tight, entertaining story, introduces meaningful gameplay additions, and leaves you with plenty to do post-credits. While the main story length and slightly underwhelming environments hold it back from greatness, it’s packed with charm, freedom, and plenty of replayability options.
