Soft Source Publishing and developer Digital Happiness have revealed DreadOut 3, the next chapter in their cult horror franchise. The third-person horror adventure will arrive on PC via Steam in 2026, with the team cheekily clarifying it’ll release “definitely after Grand Theft Auto VI.”

DreadOut 3 continues the story of Linda, the series’ returning protagonist, as she dives deeper into the realm of the supernatural. Drawing from Indonesian folklore, the game follows her descent into a twisted dimension where unseen forces threaten to disrupt the balance between light and darkness.
The sequel promises a broader, more intense experience than its predecessors. Players will explore eerie environments across day and night cycles, shifting between the physical world and a spiritual plane where malevolent spirits linger. Gameplay blends third-person exploration with a first-person camera system tied to Linda’s smartphone, used to reveal hidden threats and solve ghostly puzzles.
As Linda confronts vengeful ghosts and unearths local legends, players will expand a supernatural database known as the Ghostpedia. New outfits and traditional rituals also play a role, offering deeper immersion into the game’s culturally rooted horror.
