New pre-alpha footage focuses on foraging, barricading, and escaping Birmingham’s undead.
El Segundo, California (May 7, 2025) — Ahead of their hands-on demo at PAX East, Ocean Drive Studio has released new pre-alpha gameplay footage from God Save Birmingham, offering players a more grounded look at surviving the plague-ridden streets of medieval England. The latest build emphasizes the raw, early-game struggle—highlighting scavenging, barricade-building, and keeping a safe distance from the city’s more ravenous inhabitants. Set in “4C Birmingham”—a fictional, zombie-infested take on the historic British city—God Save Birmingham blends survival gameplay with dark humor, period-authentic challenges, and physics-based systems.

God Save Birmingham drops players into a dark and twisted version of 14th-century Birmingham, a world where the plague has not only decimated the population but reanimated the dead. In the newly released footage, a less experienced protagonist is seen using rudimentary tools like a pitchfork and makeshift barricades to survive. This fresh look builds on the brief but intense opening scene shown earlier this year, where players narrowly escaped a zombie-infested home using a fragile scaffold. Players must scavenge for food and supplies, craft essential tools, and defend themselves against a relentless undead threat.
Still in pre-alpha, the build showcases the game’s core mechanics in their current form, including exploration, resource management, and light crafting. Ocean Drive Studio has confirmed that this video reflects an unedited capture of actual gameplay, with plans to continue updating fans as the game evolves toward release.
Gamers eager to experience this blend of survival, satire, and zombies can wishlist God Save Birmingham on Steam now. The game will be playable at PAX East at Booth 15035, alongside Ocean Drive Studio’s other upcoming titles, Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch and Section 13.
