White Paper Games, the studio behind Ether One, The Occupation, and Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View, has officially announced its newest title: I AM RIPPER, a gritty thriller set in the dark undercurrent of 1980s Britain. The announcement comes alongside a debut trailer, with the game’s official website and store pages going live at 3:00 PM UK time.

Set in a crumbling dock town in northern England, I AM RIPPER places players in the role of a forensic investigator pulled into one of the UK’s most disturbing unsolved crimes. As bodies begin to appear and fear grips the community, players must navigate a non-linear narrative full of difficult moral choices, where every decision has consequences—even if you don’t know for whom.
While the title touches on elements of horror, mystery, and puzzle-solving, White Paper Games insists this isn’t a typical detective game. Instead, I AM RIPPER builds on the studio’s signature blend of tactile gameplay, branching storytelling, and atmospheric world-building. The developers promise heightened interactivity, referencing a moment in the trailer involving a chilling stitch-cutting sequence that shows off the game’s physical mechanics.
Inspired by the team’s earlier work—Ether One’s introspective look at memory loss, The Occupation’s real-time investigation, and Dahlia View’s character-driven mystery—I AM RIPPER is positioned as a natural evolution. The developers are aiming to fill what they see as a gap in the thriller genre within gaming, offering a deep, narrative experience for fans of psychological drama, true crime, and branching narratives.
I AM RIPPER is currently in development for PC and set to release via Steam, GoG, and Epic Games Store. No release date has been announced.
