Indian game developer Tara Gaming has announced The Age of Bhaarat, a dark fantasy action RPG rooted in the myths and legends of ancient India. Co-founded by veteran game producer Noredine Abboud (Ghost Recon Wildlands), legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, and bestselling author Amish Tripathi, the studio’s mission is clear: to bring culturally rich Indian storytelling to the forefront of global gaming. The game is in development for PC and set to release via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on unspecified consoles. A release date has not yet been confirmed.

Set in a world inspired by Indian epics like the Ramayan, The Age of Bhaarat casts players as a powerful Forest Warden defending the land of Anandpur from an invasion of demonic Rakshasas. As players travel through lush forests, treacherous peaks, and sacred lakes, they’ll wield mystical powers, spiritual artifacts, and traditional Indian weapons in fast-paced combat. A unique grappling hook mechanic promises to add verticality and flair to the action, while RPG elements allow deep customization of the protagonist’s powers and fighting style.
The story, penned by Tripathi himself, promises an emotionally driven, choice-based narrative exploring themes of duty, betrayal, and destiny. With optional multiplayer, players can either face the demon threat alone or alongside allies.
Billed as India’s own AAA game and developed under Tara Gaming’s “Create in India” initiative, The Age of Bhaarat is an ambitious attempt to place Indian mythology and artistry firmly in the global spotlight.
