Morkull Ragast’s Rage throws players into the chaotic world of Morkull, the God of Death and Darkness, who rules over the land of Ragast. Due to a mishap by a video game developer, Morkull realizes he is trapped in a game and enlists the player’s help to sow destruction purely for his own amusement. However, things take a turn when the villainous Galat corrupts nearly all of Morkull’s minions, forcing him to fight back.
Exactly, The game starts off with a humorous and self-deprecating tone, featuring fourth-wall-breaking dialogue and comedic elements, such as Morkull having a dedicated button just to urinate. Unfortunately, the humor fades as the game quickly descends into repetitive key-collecting and enemy-clearing segments that sap the fun out of the experience.

Repetitive Combat and Exploration
At its core, Morkull Ragast’s Rage is a 2D action-platformer with mild Metroidvania elements, requiring players to unlock new abilities to progress. However, gameplay becomes monotonous due to a loop of clearing rooms of enemies and collecting keys to move forward. Combat relies heavily on button-mashing light attacks, while heavier attacks offer more power but feel sluggish. The directional controls are frustratingly unresponsive, causing Morkull to turn away from enemies at inopportune moments.
Additionally, holding the block button does not sustain a defensive stance, as the “bone shield” begins to crack after brief use and requires precise timing, making the mechanic more of a parry system than a true shield. Dashing and other moves unlocked via golden skulls offer some variety, but fail to alleviate the core issues of clunky combat and unpolished mechanics.

A Familiar Yet Unoriginal Art Style
Visually, the game borrows heavily from Hollow Knight, with nearly identical platforming designs but a purplish hue. While the art style is appealing, the lack of originality is noticeable. Environmental assets, enemy designs, and even UI elements feel derivative, making it hard for Morkull Ragast’s Rage to establish its own visual identity.
The soundtrack is a disappointment, as well. A generic pop song loops in the background, clashing with the game’s dark fantasy theme. Instead of heightening the immersion, the music quickly becomes grating and repetitive.

Final Thoughts
While its Metroidvania-inspired progression and upgrade system could have added depth, the experience of Morkull Ragast’s Rage is bogged down by clunky controls and a lack of enemy variety. With numerous bugs, including a broken map layout that does always not match the game world, navigation becomes frustrating rather than engaging. Despite its initial comedic appeal, Morkull Ragast’s Rage ultimately fails to deliver a satisfying gameplay experience.
